An opportunity has arisen for a housekeeper to join the Cancer services department working within our Macmillan unit. We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated housekeeper to work as part of our dedicated multidisciplinary team to deliver high standards of care to our patients. The housekeeper is a valued support member helping to ensure that the Macmillan suite is a safe and comfortable environment for all patients.
The successful candidate will be organised and take pride in their work whilst ensuring patient privacy, dignity and courtesy is upheld in accordance with trust values. Your duties will include being responsible for the coordination of stock levels, maintaining cleaning standards and ensuring timely delivery of ancillary services for patients. You will have excellent interpersonal and customer service skills as well as commitment to working within a team to develop and improve our services.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for the co-ordination of patient facility services within the unit, and ensuring a clean, safe and comfortable environment.
The main elements of the post are to ensure the delivery of cleaning, catering and ancillary services for patients, to monitor the quality standards, reporting deficiencies and appropriate actions to the Manager.
Working as part of the team carrying out tasks as specified by the manager.
Job responsibilities
Cleaning
To assist in monitoring and maintaining cleaning standards on the Unit, carrying out monthly audit, reporting deficiencies.
To ensure equipment such as drip stands, commodes, trolleys are cleaned as per policy.
Catering
To ensure lunchtime menus are collected and special diets (egg, ethnic and gluten free) ordered.
To give out lunch and supper assisting patients where required.
Maintaining the environment
To monitor service delivery of cleaning, catering and Unit environment, reporting deficiencies, and agreeing actions with Manager.
To ensure defects are logged in call folder, closing when repair is carried out.
Person Specification
Qualifications and knowledge
* Worked within customer care
* CSE/GCSE English or equivalent
* Has NVQ2 Health & Social Care
Experience
* Experience in working in a fast paced and busy environment
* Experience within a healthcare setting
* Worked in a setting where cancer patients are cared for

* Able to work under pressure
* To be sensitive and understanding to individual situations
* To be able to work on own initiative
