Cumbria, Northumberland, Tyne and Wear NHS Foundation Trust (CNTW) is seeking to recruit two full time Senior Peer Supporters to join the Adult Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) Service. This service provides an assessment and treatment service for adults who are experiencing difficulty with symptoms of ADHD. The Team is located at Keegan Court, Gateshead but appointments are offered in various outpatient settings throughout Northumberland, Newcastle, Gateshead, and South of Tyne.
The Peer Supporter role is a vital part of our plan to continually improve the service that we provide. This position is newly established within the ADHD service, and individuals in this role will collaborate closely with the team and the Peer Support Supervisor to fully develop its functions within the service.
The roles are aimed at people with personal lived experience of ADHD who have a deep understanding of the challenges and impacts this condition can have on daily life. Post holders will have previous experience of working in a Peer Supporter Role and will be confident in taking on mentoring responsibilities within the Peer supporter Network in CNTW.
Main duties of the job
Support may be provided at any stage, from referral to discharge, but post holders will particularly focus on facilitating the delivery of psycho-education. This includes offering information on ADHD and its management, empowering our Service Users with the essential skills needed to manage their symptoms effectively.

* Share ideas to promote wellbeing whilst empowering service users to develop their own coping strategies.
* Provide pre and post-diagnostic support.
* Facilitate Group work and some 1:1 work, supporting service users throughout their journey whilst working as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
* Empower service users to gain a better understanding of ADHD.
* Empower Service Users to access external resources.
* Record progress and concerns, working in a manner which ensures confidentiality and security.
Person Specification
Education and Qualification
* Good level of secondary education for maths and English at GCSE or equivalent level.
* Commitment to completing CNTWs Peer Education Programme.
* Completion of Peer Support Specialist Training or other similar peer support training.
* Completion of Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP) training.
* Completion of WRAP Educator training.

* Personal lived experience of ADHD.
* Experience of being in a peer support role.
* Understanding of the challenges and impacts ADHD can have on daily life.
* Experience of a person-centred approach.
* Experience of supporting others to develop their own coping strategies.
