Job vacancy - Assistant Transport Manager
You will work under the Transport Manager, assisting in managing a fleet of 100+ vehicles and trailers, as well as the day-to-day compliance of our team of drivers.
In addition to excellent management and organisational skills, the right candidate should be physically fit, possess great communication skills, and remain calm and polite in all circumstances.
Duties will include but are not limited to:
1. Management: Managing drivers within the scope of Tachograph and working time directives. Investigating and retraining drivers due to infringements, accidents, or complaints received. Preparing weekly reports for drivers and vehicles, and reporting on investigations of all incidents and accidents. Liaising with the Insurance department in relation to accidents.
2. Compliance: Carrying out internal audits of compliance. Constantly evaluating processes and checks to maintain compliance. Monitoring and improving current compliance levels.
3. Maintenance: Managing maintenance and repairs for 100+ vehicles and trailers. Workshop management and knowledge preferable.
4. Planning: Ensuring the maintenance of vehicles is well planned to avoid disrupting the day-to-day running of the business. Ensuring continuous maintenance for all O Licence vehicles and trailers. Liaising with the Workshop Manager for workshop availability and ad-hoc repairs.
5. Budgeting: Keeping records and controlling budgets for maintenance, repairs, and equipment. Organising maintenance contracts, deals, and suppliers. Liaising with the Finance Team regarding costs and purchases.
6. Breakdown Call Outs: Organising and managing breakdown recoveries and repairs in the absence of the Transport Manager, including out-of-hours call outs.
7. Flexible: Being flexible with your working hours in response to the demands of the business.
Qualifications and Education requirements:
* Management CPC
* HGV Licence, preferably Class 1
* Working knowledge of driver hours and WTD Rules.
* Ideally 3 years+ previous experience in a similar role
