The key responsibilities and duties of the Borer/Miller include, but are not limited to:
1. To operate all types of boring machines to fine limits
2. Operate various boring machines to precision limits
3. Work independently and take responsibility for assigned tasks
4. Read, interpret, and work from technical drawings
5. Ensure compliance with company procedures, OHM, CMM, and SOPM
6. Demonstrate knowledge of horizontal boring practices and the ability to measure using imperial units
7. Maintain accurate records, including the Practical Experience Record (PER) book
8. Adhere to all safety and environmental regulations and company policies
9. Train personnel in specific areas based on qualifications and experience
10. Utilise computers for word processing, spreadsheets, and database programs
The ideal Candidate should meet the following requirements:
11. GCSE level or equivalent
12. Fluent in written and spoken English
13. Trained in machine shop technology and machining practices
14. Extensive experience with horizontal boring machines and jig borers
15. CNC boring and aerospace industry experience preferred
16. Strong precision machining and quality control knowledge
17. Ability to work independently and manage projects
18. Proactive, analytical, and a strong communicator
19. Skilled in planning, organization, and administration
20. Ability to perform under pressure and make informed decisions
21. Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to learn
22. Team player, committed to continuous improvement
Working Conditions:
23. Must be willing to work shifts
24. Training in overhead cranes, manual handling, and power tools
25. Work involves standing for extended periods and lifting heavy components
26. Maintain a clean, organized workspace (5S standard)
