We are looking for qualified nurses or midwives who can demonstrate that they can work autonomously and collaboratively to develop skills in leading a caseload and a skill mixed team to deliver the Healthy Child programme within the diverse population of Newcastle Upon Tyne. The programme is ran over 12 months full time or 24 months part time on a fixed academic timetable. Annual leave is set by Northumbria University for the duration of the course and is not changeable. Successful applicants will be expected to be fully committed to complete the full programme. Travel from home to university will be at your own cost. Successful completion of the course may lead to substantive posts within the Newcastle 0-19 Service subject to funding. Joint interviews will be held with Newcastle 0-19 Service and the academic leaders from Northumbria University. Shortlisted applicants will be advised of the date and times of interview via e-mail. Job Purpose To complete a Post Graduate Diploma in Specialist Community Public Health Nursing Programme (12 months fulltime/24 months part time) To fulfil the requirements of the Specialist Community Practitioner programme by attending university course dates and practice placement days in accordance with the Trust and University regulations To ensure that by the end of the course the successful candidate has developed the knowledge base, skills and competencies to work as a Specialist Community Public Health Nurse within their particular area speciality To work with the Specialist Community Practice Supervisor to develop the skills and competencies to achieve NMC Registration Standards for Specialist Community Practice which will be assessed by the allocated Specialist Community Practice Assessor With the support of the Specialist Community Practice Supervisor to link the theoretical knowledge gained through the university programme to the practice situation.
