We have an upcoming vacancy for the position of Active Communities Worker, whose role is to deliver both high-quality physical activity opportunities within a variety of community settings across Salford as directed by the Active Communities Development Officer and to deliver high-quality School Sports Coaching Programme to schools across the City as directed by the Active Education Development Officer. The position is fixed term for 12 months.
The role of Active Communities Worker will be based at a variety of community and school settings as part of Active Communities Team delivering diverse, structured and fun activities for children and young people aged between 4 -18 years at various venues and community settings throughout the City, whilst maintaining exceptional professional relationships with community partners. During school holiday periods you will be expected to support community delivery of holiday programmes across Salford.
We are looking for someone who:
* Holds a current recognised level 1 or 2 National Governing Body award in a relevant sport.
* Demonstrates up to date knowledge about coaching methods and techniques in your chosen sport(s).
* Demonstrates good organisational skills.
* Demonstrates good communication skills.
* Is able to demonstrate enthusiasm and good leadership.
* Exhibits the ability to work without supervision.
* Has experience of working with deprived communities, disadvantaged young people and the ability to deal with localised antisocial behaviour.
* Shows the ability to set up planned sessions according to the needs / abilities of the participants.
* Is able to compile progress / evaluation charts and monitor progression
* Consistently demonstrates SCL’s behaviours
Interviews will take place week beginning 28th October 2024 and successful candidates will be notified.
Please be aware that this post is subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and that you will be required to meet the cost of the DBS check currently £38.00. The payment deductions for any employees who need DBS checks will be taken in 2 payments of £19. If you do not commence employment for any reason but the DBS has been processed, you will be sent an invoice for the payment of £38.00.
