A well-known Japanese culture hub based in London is currently recruiting a Programming Projects Installation Manager. In this role, you will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing temporary exhibition installations specialising in the varied regional material culture of Japan.
Main Responsibilities:
1. Development and coordination of multiple installations and planning the yearly programme for the booth, library, and Travel Information area displays
2. Installation support for Gallery exhibitions
3. Monitoring of display exhibition budget
4. Reporting collated data and maintenance of accurate records
5. Researching, developing, and writing the necessary educational literature
6. Preparing all banners and POP labels for exhibition displays in the booth
7. Briefing the Marketing and Communications Team
8. Providing Retail Team with timelines and detailed plans for the booth installation
9. Research and prepare cost estimates, develop and successfully manage budgets
10. Create and manage the production schedule of all design elements
11. Ensure the accuracy of technical drawings
12. Provide essential and practical support to other exhibition installation projects
13. Create and support the production schedule of design elements, fabrication, and installation requirements
14. Work closely with internal teams and contractors
15. Ensuring other technical and logistical needs of programmes and venue requirements are met
Ideal Candidate:
Essential:
1. Educated to degree level or equivalent qualification in a relevant field
2. At least 3 years’ professional experience in a similar role with responsibility for administration and logistics management of exhibition displays
3. Proven skills managing exhibitions or retail display production and/or installation
4. Proven ability with art handling, art storage, packing, rigging, and transportation
5. High level of proficiency in full MS Office suite
6. Exhibition object handling logistics, including packing standards
7. Understanding of Japan and Japanese cultures
8. Experience of working with or in Japan
9. Project Management and Budget management experience
10. International shipping management experience
11. Japanese language skills to native level, English language skills to professional level
12. Ability to translate effectively between English and Japanese
Preferred:
1. Additional training/courses completed in associated areas e.g. Art handling, project management, IOSH, logistics
2. Working knowledge of Vectorworks, CAD or other drafting software
3. Knowledge of art/museum security systems and procedures
4. Proven professional experience with graphic design and installation construction
5. Exposure to sector (Interior Design, Architecture, Museum, Arts, NFP, Heritage or Tourism Development)
