We are looking for a dynamic and experienced individual to lead the team on our busy Surgical Assessment Unit. The unit sees approximately 700 patients per month and takes direct admissions from GPs and our Emergency Department. The unit provides care for general surgical, urology, ENT, Orthopaedic and gynae patients. The unit was opened in December 2022 following a large investment and expansion to ensure we can deliver all aspects of emergency surgical care. There are further developments to assist in the access of emergency care planned for the future.
The right candidate will need to have extensive relevant clinical experience and a clear focus on ensuring patients receive timely assessment and treatment. The role involves leading and managing a well established team as well as providing clinical expertise and working within the unit.
Main duties of the job
1. Having continuing responsibility for the 24 hour management of the ward and delivery of patient care.
2. To have responsibility for the line management of all ward based nursing and support staff
3. To promote continuous development in clinical practice and deliver of patient care, encouraging innovation, improvement and appropriate change in service delivery.
4. To manage resources within agreed budget.
5. To provide a suitable and stimulating learning environment for students and for the ongoing professional development of registered staff.
6. To maintain communication networks at all appropriate clinical and managerial levels.

7. Registered Nurse or other registered professional within healthcare
8. ENB 998 or equivalent
9. Degree in Nursing
10. Evidence of further continued professional development
