An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Stores and Depot Supervisor for the Environment and Transport Department.
We are looking for someone to manage stores and delivery activities, having responsibility for the teams who will ensure optimum distribution of resources, understanding appropriate stockholding and the removal of waste.
About the Role
As Stores & Depot Supervisor you will focus on the business needs of a busy, multi-functional operational depot and manage a Highways Authority Depot Stores consisting of a team of Stores Staff and Depot Operatives split over two predominant depot locations.
You will be responsible for ensuring efficient stock management of a diverse selection of building and civil engineering materials with a focus on; safe storage and handling, robust operating and housekeeping procedures, stock control, a knowledge of supply chain management, stock transactions and an efficient materials delivery service to depots and works sites appropriate.
You will ensure the compliance with health and safety legislation and manage the production of COSHH risk assessments for the storage and handling of highways materials and the activities undertaken within the wider highways operation.
You will supervise the Council’s Gully Tanker dewatering and recycling facility ensuring compliance with the Environment Agency bespoke permit, the EA Permitting regulations and Environmental Legislation.
You will proactively engage with Operational Managers and the Commercial team, to ensure that the Highways Stores hold the correct type and quantity of materials to meet the demands of the Environmental and Transport department (plus other LCC departments as required) business requirements.
You will develop and maintain good working relationships with supply chain partners, dealing promptly with any issues to ensure the smooth running of the supply chain network.
You will also assist the Purchasing and Stores Manager with recruitment, induction, training and development, performance reviews, attendance management and disciplinary procedures.
About You
To apply for this post, you must have;
1. You will have qualifications relevant to the post or demonstrable experience - including IOSH / NEBOSH / WAMITAB level 4 or supervisory
2. You will have experience working in a stores, highways maintenance or construction industry or within an office environment using Microsoft packages and financial software
3. You will have knowledge on the current technical guidance and standard on key areas such as risk assessment, COSHH, HAVS and waste management
4. You will have strong IT skills including knowledge on inventory management systems
5. You will be customer focused to ensure a positive customer experience is central to the team approach
6. You will have a proactive approach to planning to ensure the smooth running of a multifaceted stores environment
7. You will be able to communicate in a clear and concise manner with internal and external stakeholders
