LEAD SITE RELIABILITY ENGINEERING (SRE) ENGINEER

This role offers a competitive salary range of £90,000 - £100,000 and is based in Bristol. The successful candidate will play an active and leading role in a cloud-focused team, working on products and services on the Google Cloud Platform that will shape the future of services.
What you'll do:
1. Influence and drive the adoption of SRE best practices within our microservices
2. Collaborate with infrastructure engineers to ensure resilience and scalability across the platform
3. Observe, investigate & fix service issues with an engineering mentality – resolving via code changes and implementing improvements to prevent repeat issues
4. Implement further automation and reduce toil by utilising existing Cloud tooling or implementing new technologies
5. Work across multiple labs and signature projects in the Digital space
6. Mentor other engineers in SRE best practices
What you bring:
1. Experience working with a broad set of GCP products or extensive experience with another Public Cloud platform such as Azure or AWS
2. Hands-on experience building and administering Kubernetes clusters in a production environment
3. Experience automating/scripting to remove toil
4. Ability to quickly understand, update and write code in languages such as Python, Java, Golang BASH and PowerShell
5. Experience monitoring SLO’s, SLI’s and SLAs and logging updates and alerting where appropriate
6. Strong understanding of DevOps including experience of Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD pipelines such as Terraform and Jenkins
