Field Technician
Job Role – salary around £25,000 per annum (dependent on experience) plus van and fuel card, shift allowances and bonuses (app £4,000 per annum)

As our company grows and develops, we are ever expanding our teams. We have a great opportunity for a dedicated Field Technician to join our Infrastructure Division and wear the SOCOTEC badge with pride.
We are looking for a reliable, flexible and driven individual to join our Geotechnical team. As a member of Geotechnical, you will be exposed to a variety of unique projects throughout the country. It is key that you have the balance to be proactive and independent, while simultaneously being a strong team player. Good management skills, and a strong understanding with experience in the industry are vital in order to succeed in this role.
The tasks you will undertake will include (but are not limited to):
1. Undertake other general labouring duties e.g. erecting and repairing fences, breaking out of hard standing, general reinstatement of tarmac/concrete/minor brickwork/reinforced concrete/block paving and cobbles/grass or landscaped areas, helping to mobilise equipment to sites with difficult access, light instrument monitoring, delivery of consumables to site, collection of samples from site and tidying stores where required, driving forklift on site.
2. Groundwater and gas monitoring of standpipes and piezometers on site. This may involve monitoring several small sites in a day or monitoring a linear GI project where walking considerable distances with equipment between monitoring locations may be required.
3. Water sampling from standpipes at sites of similar environments as listed above.
4. Monitoring of specialist instrumentation such as VWPs, inclinometers, extensometers, data loggers.
5. Accurate recording of data and validation/checking of results.
To be successful in this role, you will be able to demonstrate:
1. A minimum level of fitness required to undertake all site based tasks listed above on a variety of sites including active construction sites and linear projects for roads and railways.
2. Awareness and ability to implement Health, Safety and Environmental legislation.
3. Willingness to work in railway or highway environments including nightshifts.
4. Ability to work on own or as part of a team.
5. Good attention to detail.
6. Ability to multi-task.
