Job Description My client in the South East is seeking a Network Design Engineer. They are a leader in building system solutions, known for delivering cutting-edge, efficient, and customised intelligent building solutions. The successful candidate will be responsible for producing and developing detailed network designs for enterprise converged building networks, either as part of broader projects or as standalone ICT projects. This includes coordinating with third-party systems connected to the CNS and defining IP and VLAN schedules. Upon client approval, the candidate will ensure the approved configuration is implemented, including setting up and testing switches in the factory before their installation on-site. This flexible role is primarily based in their office outside of London, but may require occasional travel to project offices in and around London. The candidate must have demonstrable experience in: Delivering ICT network designs for enterprise-grade networks. Coordinating design efforts and collaborating with project construction teams, including main contractors, sub-contractors, design consultants, and end-user clients. Producing engineering documentation such as technical submittals, IP schedules, rack elevations, and patching schedules. Holding a professional network qualification, such as Cisco CCNA or an equivalent from a leading network manufacturer. Engineering solutions within budget and identifying potential commercial and technical risks. Clearly detailing and explaining design concepts to design and client teams, with fully justified design decisions. Holding relevant technical accreditations and qualifications. Having a sound working knowledge of common network manufacturers like Cisco/Cisco Meraki, HP, etc. Experience with operational IP technology in buildings, including BMS, CCTV, and lighting systems. Additional Advantageous Experience Understanding cloud-based IoT technologies. Advising third parties on configuring their equipment to meet network security standards. Experience with common building networks and IoT protocols such as Modbus, BACnet, and MQTT. Requirements: Ensure designs comply with contract documentation, specifications, and drawings. Attend design meetings on and off-site as required. Complete designs in time to meet deadlines for client approval, CAD, FAT tests, and installation. Produce documentation to support the design of the system, including equipment schedules, IP schedules, rack elevations, and patching schedules. Source technical information from manufacturers and suppliers as needed. Create and submit requests for information (RFIs) to clients, ensuring clear responses and incorporating any changes into the design documentation. Create and submit technical submittals to clients, incorporating any comments into the design documentation before manufacture. Work with the project team and engineers to identify and develop solutions for new projects. Ensure projects are delivered to a high technical standard. Identify and communicate any design changes that may constitute a variation to the contract to the project manager. Provide detailed information to CAD design engineers and ensure it meets appropriate standards. Check and approve all drawings created by project CAD design engineers before client issue or manufacture. Manage multiple projects concurrently as necessary. Ensure quality control of design activities on projects, adhering to company business operating systems and quality management systems (ISO 9001 Quality Control System). Provide feedback on working methods and efficiency improvements to the Engineering Manager.
