Role Purpose:
We are looking for a dynamic and creative Communications Officer – Press & Media to enhance Adferiad’s media presence and public engagement. You will play a key role in developing compelling content, managing press relations, and expanding our reach across media platforms. Strong writing and journalistic skills are essential for this role, as you will be responsible for crafting impactful stories and engaging with the media.
The Press and Media Officer will work across multiple teams within our organisation to act as a liaison between Adferiad and various media and news agencies, building relationships and contacts to ensure our work is highlighted across Wales. The role will help ensure Adferiad’s mission and policy positions are communicated with stakeholders and the wider public, so that the voices of its members are heard. The successful candidate will be required to engage with influencers and reporters, as well as key decision makers to promote our message and Adferiad’s work. Our strategic communications will align with our values to inform the public about the extent and broad nature of mental health, mental illness, substance use and other complex needs.
The role will sit within the Policy, Public Affairs and Communications team, actively working with the team to produce and write publications, articles and press releases to advertise the work that Adferiad does, and to arrange and liaise with external media contacts, who may wish to interview our staff & clients.
The Press and Media Officer will closely collaborate internally to ensure our strategic external communications are informed by the voices of lived experience, and working with services to meet their campaigning needs for delivery where appropriate.
This role would suit someone who is interested in the power of strategic communications and working with the media to communicate them. You will have a passion for mental health, an ability to tell compelling stories, and will be able to turn key information into powerful communications that amplify the voices of our members and services. You will be an excellent communicator and understand new and legacy media. You will enjoy developing creative publications, be an excellent team player who can lead projects independently, while having the ability to convey powerful messages.
