This role will entail retrieving notes from the filing libraries and filing them back in numerical order. This may require the use of ladders or step stools (full training will be provided). The use of a PC using the Trust's Patient Administration System will form part of the daily requirements. It is important to be able to work as part of a team as well as independently. The role requires good manual handling skills.
This role involves working as part of a team to ensure that the notes required for outpatient attendances and inpatient episodes are prepared and made ready in time for the patient's attendance. The majority of the time will be desk-based; however, there is a requirement to retrieve notes from filing units to prepare them for clinics.
Main Duties of the Job
The post holder is expected to use the Trust's Patient Administration System (PAS) SEMA within all areas of Health Records and Patient Access, which will require extensive use of a VDU and daily keyboard skills. Responsibilities include:
1. Receiving, sorting, and delivering patient records to all wards and departments, including peripheral buildings, as instructed by the Medical Records Supervisor.
2. Providing a comprehensive day-to-day health library service.
3. Meeting performance standards specific to the area they are working in.
4. Ensuring confidentiality guidelines are strictly adhered to when handling patient information or discussing patient needs, in accordance with the Trust's Confidentiality Policy and Information Governance guidelines.
5. Working within the Trust's Health & Safety policy at all times.
6. Performing a combination of sitting, standing, excessive walking, and physical effort involving moving and handling.
