Senior Materials Management Operative
18 month fixed term contract
Shift pattern: You will be working Tuesday to Thursday, 6am – 6pm. From 1st July 2025, we will move to a Double Day shift pattern – Monday to Friday, 6am – 2pm or 2pm 10pm (alternated weekly).
Starting salary: £31,019 per annum, rising to £31,679 on successful completion of 3-month probation. Moving to £35,599 when working Double Day shift. Plus highly competitive overtime payments.
The role
Due to expansion at our operation near Loughton Essex, we are looking to recruit a Senior Materials Management Operative, to join our growing team. The SMMO is responsible planning out work activities and ensuring the correct resources in the right place at the right time, accountable for what happens in their area of responsibility, this includes implementing improvements, health & safety, auditing processes, cycle counting, incident reporting, managing spoils/projects/quarantines and escalations to the working team leader.
Duties within the role include, but is not limited to;
* Responsible for the day-to-day activities required for Managing and Coordinating all material movement & storage along with all the systems used to manage the flow of materials within their area of responsibility.
* Directing safe activities, including labelling, storage, movements, and paperwork/computer transactions
* Ensuring work is moved and stored safely, resolving storage issues, reporting unsafe practises and completing incident reports
* Ensure deliveries are carried out in line with the production forecasts.
* Ensure materials are distributed in line with FIFO (first in first out) to enhance just in time
* Ensure correct data entry to track material movements whether in sage or other complimenting systems.
To be successful in your application, we are looking for applications from individuals who can demonstrate;
* Experience of working in a stock control environment
* Planning and organisational skills essential
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Experience of working on computerised stock systems i.e. SAGE would be an advantage
