Electrical Design Engineer
Location: Workington, Cumbria

The company focuses on clean energy, health & nuclear medicine, and environmental restoration.
The work includes the supply of bespoke remote handling equipment, tooling, inspection systems, and robotic systems and tooling for all aspects of remote operations plant intervention work in the nuclear industry.
This role plays an essential part in delivering projects that few others in the sector are tackling, while contributing to the advancement of cleaner energy solutions and safe nuclear practices.
Key Responsibilities
1. Design Development: Utilize AutoCAD to produce 2D detailed design drawings and schematics for control panels, machinery, and instrumentation.
2. Technical Calculations: Conduct and document detailed technical and design calculations.
3. Plant Equipment Support: Support the build, installation, and commissioning of plant equipment and inactive test rigs for trialling new technologies.
4. Critical Documentation: Prepare critical product safety documentation, including risk assessments, method statements, and maintenance manuals.
5. Tech Guidance: Provide guidance to technicians and oversee the procurement process, including developing specifications and inspecting deliveries.
Requirements
1. Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Control & Instrumentation Engineering or related field with relevant experience.
2. Design Experience: Experience with 2D CAD design packages, ideally AutoCAD.
3. Project Experience: Project experience from concept design through to delivery.
4. Security Clearance: Ability to obtain SC-level security clearance, which includes 5 years of UK residency (you can start the role without this).
5. Safety Qualification: IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent safety management qualification preferred.
6. Laboratory Leadership: Ability to serve as a Laboratory Task Supervisor and provide technical mentorship.
Estimated Salary: £60,000 - £80,000 per annum.
