Transped Transped is the international logistics arm of the Port of Blyth Group and is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Port. Operating globally for over 25 years, Transped offer a full logistics, storage, distribution and forwarding service to clients – this includes a twice weekly short sea container service operating between Blyth and the Netherlands, providing various sectors with a door-to-door solution for unitised goods. Transped also provides expert import/export packing, warehousing, distribution and storage, as well as worldwide forwarding for non-unitised goods.Nigel Wright is delighted to be supporting The Port of Blyth Group in the recruitment of a Head of Business Development for Transped focused on growing freight and project forwarding, both domestically and internationally. This role offers a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in delivering significant growth, both with existing Group customers and expanding the global customer base. Role Reporting into the Commercial Director for the Port of Blyth Group, the Head of Business Development’s key areas of responsibility will include: Growth Strategy: Drive profitable growth for Transped by playing a key role in developing the project and freight forwarding business, whether cargo transits through Blyth or other UK / global locations. Partnership Development : Develop and use a network of solution providers to have the ability to propose comprehensive forwarding solutions that may include road, rail, sea and air freight transport. Service Expansion: Focus on expanding services offered to the Group’s existing customer base and sectors (including offshore wind and oil & gas), offering a one stop shop for container, freight forwarding and packing services. Generate Business: Identify leads and opportunities to expand the customer base by selling forwarding services, then conclude agreements to handle the freight. This includes the development of accurate, relevant and profitable tenders and quotations Collaboration: Work closely with the operations team, to ensure a high level of service delivery and working closely together to solve any challenges or issue. Customer focused: retaining and growing existing customer accounts whilst also seeking new business. Solution focused: able to understand customer requirements and provide relevant, commercially viable solutions. Brand awareness: Work closely with the marketing team to raise the profile of Transped freight and project forwarding services, to attract inbound enquiries. Reporting: Report progress and commercial summaries to the Transped Board. Experience and Skills Industry Knowledge: Relevant logistics sector experience is essential, need to hit the ground running, ideal candidates would come with forwarding experience perhaps from a freight forwarder or 3pl company. Proven Track Record : Must have previous sales experience in a solution, fast paced environment. Good mix of account management / long term relationship and new business development skills with the ability to develop strategic relationships with key customers. Strategic mindset with the ability and drive to spot new opportunities and take ownership in moving them forward. Confident to report into the board, presenting opportunities for growth and development of Transped services. Excellent communication skills consistently working to deliver excellent customer experience. Inquisitive and technically aware with strong commercial acumen – attention to detail around quotations, able to get into the detail and ask customer the right questions to ensure service can be delivered at a price that maintains margin. Service Orientated : Must be hands on and understand the service orientated, value added culture and mindset of the Port Group. Thinking as one team, getting involved in operational and commercial issues and being a real team player. A charismatic and inspiring personality with the ability to gain credibility quickly with peers and the leadership team.
