Madad UK (MUK) is a charity which offers emergency grants, financial education, and money management tools, and is opening their first retail store to support local people in Watford and the surrounding areas which offers interest-free payments. This charity shop is the first of its kind, so get in contact and be part of a charity which aims to have a big impact on local people suffering from financial hardship, are from disadvantaged backgrounds, and the vulnerable in society.
Start date for the role: 1st April 2025.
ROLE: Retail Shop Manager, Full Time, or Part Time, Volunteer
It would be ideal if you have any of the following experience:
* Experience managing a team
* Excellent communicator and able to work as part of a team
* Experience of cash handling and using a till
* Good level of IT skills, with experience of Excel and Microsoft Teams
Main purpose of the role:
To manage all aspects of shop operations to maximise income and achieve sales targets and relevant key performance indicators. To be passionate about and provide excellent customer service that means people become loyal customers, returning regularly to shop. To help source donations, and recruit new volunteers. To manage and support training needs of volunteers. To visually merchandise stock, ensuring it looks appealing and easy for customers to navigate.
Key Tasks:
* Accept and thank supporters bringing donations (saleable and according to what we can accept), sort and quality check.
* Promote Gift Aid to donors and complete the relevant paperwork.
* Ensure pricing policies are adhered to, to research and identify the value of items to maximise income and follow pricing guides.
* Lead on visual merchandising of stock on the shop floor to maximise sales, which includes dressing of shop mannequins and windows using Hospice guidelines.
* Help to identify non-saleable items to remove and recycle from the shop floor.
* Operate the till and serve customers, and manage daily and weekly reporting.
* Ensure the cleanliness of the shop throughout the week, keep storage areas tidy and organised, and walkways clear.
* Answer incoming telephone calls efficiently and politely. Process telephone sales and enquiries efficiently and complete relevant paperwork (furniture stores only).
* Carry out any other tasks as reasonably required.
* Set up and open/close the shop at the beginning/end of the business day, and prepare for the following day.
* Onboard and manage volunteers and ensure required training is up to date and policies are adhered to.
* Ensure health and safety policies are adhered to.
* Manage the rota to ensure a good level of volunteer cover throughout the week.
