As a Principle Process Engineer within the RF Assembly manufacturing facility, you will be responsible for the day-to-day leadership of an engineering team in manufacturing Bolton. You will manage project and functional workloads to ensure completion and delivery on time through the team.
Salary: Circa £45,000 depending on experience
Dynamic (hybrid) working: 4 or 5 days per week on-site due to workload classification

The opportunity:
As a Principle Process Engineer, you will lead an engineering team in manufacturing Bolton, managing project and functional workloads to ensure timely completion and delivery. You will lead continuous improvement activities and represent the manufacturing team at various forums. This leadership role involves people management, including sickness & absence, appraisals, holidays, workload, dynamic working arrangements, and individual output. Your team will focus on ensuring efficient manufacturing of products with state-of-the-art equipment and processes. Current programmes will need to be maintained while introducing new products—all to time, cost, and quality objectives. You will stay updated on emerging technologies.
Working with the Manufacturing Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for:
1. Supporting Senior Process Engineers in their day-to-day roles and responsibilities, managing team workload, priorities, and key problems to ensure timely delivery.
2. Promoting continuous improvement throughout the team and leading CI work packages.
3. Defining manufacturing architecture to operate lean principles and compiling business cases for process improvements and factory of the future concepts.
4. Assuming responsibilities for the safe operation of new and established processes, including liaising with COSHH assessors and SHE.
5. Collaborating with the design authority during the product prototype and development phase, ensuring optimised Design for Manufacture (DfM), or in the production phase for change implementation.
6. Interpreting CAD data and design requirements to generate machine programs/processes that meet the design intent.
7. Project managing equipment procurement or upgrade from selection through to installation, commissioning, and specification of maintenance requirements.
8. Conducting cost/benefit analysis for changes to processes and/or equipment.
9. Driving and monitoring departmental improvement to positively impact time, cost, and quality of processes within your sphere of influence.
10. Liaising with the Quality Engineering team to investigate root causes of non-conformance and implement robust corrective actions.
11. Producing and maintaining documentation such as requirement specifications, operating procedures, maintenance schedules, training records, risk assessments, and FMEAs.
12. Providing support/training to operations staff and peers to enable effective use of equipment and processes.
What we're looking for from you:
1. Formal technical Engineering/Craft Apprenticeship to NVQ Level 3 and Formal further education certificate to HNC or equivalent in a relevant subject or BEng in a relevant Engineering or Science Degree.
2. Experience and a strong working knowledge of the manufacture of RF assemblies, die placement, ATV / Epoxy die attach, wire / ribbon bonding, plasma cleaning, gap welding, optical inspection.
3. Knowledge of these processes and techniques in a manual and automated environment would be desirable.
4. Be highly motivated and hard-working, to create/maintain a high-performing team.
5. Must demonstrate a proactive approach to process improvements.
6. Must be confident in people leadership and holding effective team/individual discussions.
