Dorset Healthcare are looking for enthusiastic, flexible and driven individuals to provide an outstanding service as an experienced Medical Secretary to join our administrative team at Christchurch Community Mental Health Team.
You will be fully supported by an experienced Team Leader and provided with all the training and tools you need to be successful in this role. You will have regular supervision, yearly appraisals, and opportunities to be creative, embedding an ethos of continuous improvement.
If you have a willingness to learn, previous secretarial experience including audio typing skills, and the skills to be successful in this role, then we want to hear from you.
You will need to be flexible to manage the workload of this busy Community Mental Health Team. We ensure our Trust's values are incorporated in everything we do, providing a patient-centred approach with recovery and wellbeing at the forefront of our care.
Employment in this post requires an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, which the Trust will cover the cost of. Applicants who subscribe to the DBS update service are able to present a valid DBS certificate instead of requiring a new check.
You will be required to provide efficient secretarial, administrative, and reception support for the team, liaising with members of the public and a variety of professionals in primary and secondary care services. Given the nature of this service, some patients may contact us in distress; we are looking for resilient applicants, but you will be provided with the training and skills to manage this. With a compassionate work ethos, you will thrive with the right level of support from the Team Leader.
You will have a solid administrative background or be an experienced secretary, able to multi-task and manage your time effectively. You will need an understanding of Office 365 including Outlook, Word, and Excel, have an outstanding telephone manner, and be able to deal with difficult patients through excellent communication skills.
You will be organised, able to motivate yourself and your colleagues, work to deadlines, and complete tasks with the highest level of accuracy and attention to detail.
You will be responsible for keeping RIO, the Trust's patient record system, up to date, following data protection and GDPR legislation. You will provide secretarial support to the team's medics through the completion of clinical correspondence and dictation, onward referral management, and arranging and attending various types of meetings as a minute taker.
You must have an intermediate level of audio typing skills.
