Are you looking for variety, flexibility, challenge and the chance to progress your career into providing modern Speech and Language Therapy in a prison setting?
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Band 7 Highly Speech and Language Therapist to work across the Learning disability and autism neurodiversity pathway (LDA) here at HMP Birmingham, which is cemented within the prison mental health team.
Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust are the NHS provider of healthcare delivery for HMP Birmingham and work alongside several partnership agencies.
We have expanded services with focused pathways on Secondary mental health, Trauma, Personality Disorder, Dementia care and Learning Disability/ASD.
We are looking to recruit passionate Band 7 Speech and Language Therapist on a 12 month fixed term contract.
Main duties of the job
HMP Birmingham is part of the regional resource for the remand estate in the West Midlands, and is a Cat B establishment, servicing the Birmingham crown and magistrates’ courts. The prison currently holds a maximum of 970 prisoners, with a combination of both sentenced and remand adult males.
We are now looking to enhance our skilled team, with a Speech and Language Therapist to build services for the LDA and Neurodiverse pathway.
There is a great opportunity to embrace change and embed culture.
Our service has defined structured Mental Health teams in operation and a supportive multi-disciplinary team, made up of Nurses, Occupational therapist, Psychiatrist and Psychologists.
We want to employ a Speech and Language Therapist who has a real understanding for the needs of the prisoner/offender population who can also bring innovation and change to our services. We see these services as a genuine specialism and are offering the opportunity to be part of it.
As part of our inspiring teams, you’ll have the scope to share ideas and follow them through into innovative practice.
