The Technical Assistant will support Agriculture Victoria Research with field sampling and subsequent soil and plant processing activities where results are critical for the delivery of research outcomes across a broad range of externally funded projects. The position requires good practical skills involving the operation of specialised equipment to sow, maintain and harvest experimental field sites, conduct soil and plant sample collection and undertake processing procedures. Attention to detail is fundamental for the accurate and timely collection and recording of data from the experiments as will sufficient literacy skills to follow sampling protocols and ability to follow instructions (verbal and written). The successful applicants will need to work effectively in a team and be able to co-operate with a range of people including other technicians, scientists and post graduate students. The successful applicant will be managed by AVR research scientist and required to work within a team and communicate effectively with other staff members.
Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications
* Experience in the processing of plant and soil samples for analysis, as is the ability to read instructions accurately and follow accordingly.
This is a fixed term position available for a period of 6 Months. The work location for this position is Grains Innovation Park, 110 Natimuk Road, Horsham.
