An independent boarding and day school for girls aged 11 to 18 in Reading, Berkshire, catering for 550 students and teachers daily. We offer a core feeding of breakfast, AM Break, lunch, afternoon break, and supper. This is a term-time plus contract working 34 weeks plus events over the summer. This is a 7-day operation, so the working pattern will be 5 days out of 7. Additional benefits include free parking on site and use of the gym at a reduced membership.
We currently have a fantastic opportunity for a Kitchen Porter to join our established and friendly team at our prestigious location in Reading. This is a 41-week-a-year contract, term time plus additional days depending on the length of the school year.
You'll play a big part in keeping the kitchen hygienic, safe, and up to our very high standards of cleanliness.
Key skills:
* Experience of pot wash duties would be an advantage
* Excellent customer service skills
* Great team player
* Ability to assist the Chefs with food prep
* Ensure high standards of cleanliness at all times
* Clean and maintain all kitchen equipment
* Clean allocated pieces of heavy catering equipment using instructions and cleaning materials, including air filter and extraction systems
* Operate industrial dishwasher
We are looking for:
* Kitchen Porter experience is preferred, but not essential
* A can-do attitude
* Organizational skills
Knowledge / competencies:
* Ability to demonstrate a reasonable/good understanding and use of verbal English
* Ability to demonstrate a reasonable/good standard of written English and reading skills
* Similar experience in a customer and/or food preparation environment is preferred
