As the public face of our properties, you’ll provide a warm, friendly welcome, give information about the property, answer questions and make sure everyone has an enjoyable and memorable visit.
Hours/working pattern: This role is an hourly paid, fixed term role. Wherever possible we aim to offer a consistent working pattern, but we’re looking for flexibility as it may be necessary for us to alter this pattern from time to time to suit the needs of the business. We’d give you as much notice of this as possible. You'll work during our core hours of 9am-5pm. Hours available will include summer holidays, bank holidays and weekend shifts; to be discussed at interview.
Working outside in all weathers and delivering tasks when the weather conditions aren’t ideal, you'll be comfortable working in a flexible and adaptable way within a busy environment.
You'll be required to drive vehicles including vans between car parks therefore a full UK Driving Licence is required.
We’re currently undertaking our pay review process and it is likely that this salary will be increased from 1st April 2025.

What it's like to work here
You'll be part of the Visitor Welcome Team, working closely with the Welcome Manager, who you'll also report into. You’ll be part of a team of ten Visitor Welcome Assistants across the two properties, plus many volunteer colleagues. You'll also work alongside the wider property team consisting of our Rangers, Facilities Programming, Partnerships and Food & Beverage Teams.
Formby is a highly designated and much-loved coastal site, which welcomes around 1.16 million visitors annually. It’s not without its challenges and we are always looking at the best ways to manage this site for nature and people too.
You’ll also work across the portfolio at Rufford Old Hall, a Tudor mansion in Ormskirk home to 500 years of Hesketh family history. Every day is different in the portfolio, so all of our team are enthusiastic, flexible and able to think on their feet.
What you'll be doing
As the largest conservation charity in Europe we work hard to raise funds, so that we can continue to care for all the heritage in our trust. Visitors are a vital part of what we do, so you’ll be responsible for ensuring that you provide an excellent service to all our visitors, every day. As a Welcome & Service Assistant, it’s your role to ensure that the welcome our visitors receive is perfect, setting them up for an amazing experience for the rest of the day.
You’ll be responsible for answering queries and making sure visitors can find everything they need for their visit. Understanding how and why we engage our supporters is key. Working with our spirit of place you’ll work with the visitor welcome team to link everything we do back to our cause and the on-going work we do.
You’ll deliver high standards of presentation at the property, and ensure all our communications with our visitors are clear and consistent, from the first click on the website, to the posters and signs around the property.
