Due to retirement, Saltscar Surgery has a great opportunity for a qualified Nurse Associate wishing to work in General Practice. The vacancy is part-time, 24 hours per week over 3 days. Our team at Saltscar can provide a supportive learning environment where we value learning, teaching, and training.
We have a list size of more than 8500 patients, based in the town center of Redcar, serving the population of Redcar and the local surrounding area of Marske, New Marske, and Dormanstown.
We use TPP SystmOne clinical computer system, along with other IT functions such as ICE, Ardens, and Accurix.
Our team is led by 3 General Practitioners and an Advanced Nurse Practitioner Partner. Our team comprises a variety of healthcare professionals (Salaried GPs, ANPs, Practice Nurses, HCAs, Midwife, Physio, Mental Health Workers, and Pharmacists) along with an experienced management and administrative team who are here to support and promote healthcare with empathy and compassion.
We are a member of Redcar Coastal Primary Care Network, working closely with our neighboring practices to improve healthcare access across our area.
The vacancy is for a Nurse Associate to work across all fields of nursing: adult, children, mental health, and learning disability.

Main duties of the job
The duties include undertaking clinical tasks such as venepuncture, ECGs, health promotion, hypertension and blood pressure monitoring, wound care, and dressing. Dealing with samples, adopting appropriate infection control procedures, assisting the doctor with minor surgery procedures, assisting with vaccination and immunization programs, and managing the safe storage and rotation of vaccines, drugs, and injectables.
An important part of the role is to ensure information is treated sensitively and to adhere to the principle of confidentiality at all times.
Clear and concise documentation is recorded using appropriate templates and protocols to ensure accuracy and legible record keeping.

Job responsibilities
The Nursing Associate works alongside a team within general practice. The post holder will be an integral part of the general practice team, working as and when required within this organization.
Their principal task is to support registered nurses to enable them to focus on the more complex clinical care of patients.
The Nursing Associate is to undertake the following key responsibilities in delivering health services:
* Delivery of high-quality, compassionate care while undertaking specific clinical and care tasks under the direction of a nominated individual with a focus on promoting good health and independence.
* To provide high-quality holistic and person-centered care to individuals.
* To provide routine care to patients as required in accordance with clinical-based evidence, NICE, and the NSF.
* To provide wound care, dressings, and other clinical tasks as required.
* To work as part of the organization’s MDT to provide and monitor care, under direct or indirect supervision.
* To improve safety and quality of care at every opportunity.
* To work with the organization’s MDT to ensure delivery of nursing associate duties to complement the existing workforce.
* To support registered nurses to enable them to focus on the more complex clinical care.
* To perform and record clinical observations such as blood pressure, temperature, respirations, and pulse.
* After undertaking additional training, to provide flu vaccinations, ECGs, venepuncture, and other relevant clinical tasks as required by the organization in line with the competencies of the role.
* To promote health and wellbeing to all patients, for example, undertaking the NHS health check.
* To care for individuals with dementia, mental health conditions, and learning disabilities.
To provide support during minor operations as required.
To advise patients on general healthcare and promote self-management where appropriate, including signposting patients to personalized care colleagues and local community and voluntary sector services.
To maintain accurate and contemporaneous patient health records ensuring that clinical data is appropriately recorded with SNOMED CT codes.
To enhance own performance through continuous professional development, imparting own knowledge and behaviors to meet the needs of the service.
To contribute to and embrace the spectrum of clinical governance.
To attend a formal appraisal with your manager at least every 12 months. Once a performance/training objective has been set, progress will be reviewed regularly so that new objectives can be agreed.
To contribute to public health campaigns (e.g., flu clinics) through advice or direct care.
To support and deliver health promotion and wellbeing programs including any opportunistic delivery.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Registered Nursing Associate and on the NMC register.
* Meets the specific qualification and training requirements as specified in the Nursing Midwifery Standards of proficiency by having undertaken and completed the two-year Foundation Degree delivered by an NMC approved provider.
* Is registered with the NMC and revalidation is undertaken in line with NMC Requirements.
* Evidence of time management skills and ability to prioritize.
* Ability to record accurate clinical notes.
* Knowledge of when to seek advice and refer to a registered care professional.
* Demonstrate personal accountability, emotional resilience, and work well under pressure.
* Ability to organize, plan, and prioritize on own initiative, including when under pressure and meeting deadlines.
* Willingness to work flexible hours when required to meet work demands.
