We are currently recruiting for a Mechanical Engineer with some electrical experience to join a thriving engineering company based in Heywood. This is a permanent position working 40 hours per week Mon-Fri (8am-4.30pm) and offering a salary up to £38,000 per annum + overtime at enhanced rates – total earnings up to £50k! A company vehicle and mobile are also provided for this field-based role.
The work is predominantly in the North West; Manchester and Liverpool areas mainly, with occasional work nationally.
As a Mechanical Engineer, you will be working with a wide range of pump systems with the following responsibilities:
* Conduct general site maintenance, including electrical maintenance (training is provided; however, some basic level of electrical understanding, including safe isolation procedures, is required).
* Maintain various systems, including wastewater systems, boosted cold water systems for high-rise buildings, water treatment systems, and more.
* Fault finding, servicing, and repairing.
* Completing installations for newly commissioned equipment.
* Servicing of cold water booster sets and pumping stations is typical.
* Attending large apartment blocks with water leaks, blocked foul drains, etc.
* Make repairs to pumps and pipework, replacing faulty electrical components and controllers.
* Handle systems such as submersible pumps, motor/pump control systems, pipework and valve systems (including Ductile Iron, Copper, and Polyethylene), rainwater harvesting systems, and septic tanks.
Familiarity with at least two of the below systems/equipment is required:
* Cold water booster systems
* Submersible pumps
* Motor/pump control systems
* Level control and other sensing equipment
* Various pipework and valve systems – especially Ductile Iron, Copper, and Polyethylene (HDPE & MDPE)
* Rainwater Harvesting Systems
* Borehole pump systems
* Septic tanks, water treatment systems, grease traps, and interceptors.
We are keen to hear from applicants with the following skills and experience:
* Previous experience as a Mechanical Engineer with some electrical knowledge.
* Experience of working on client sites with the ability to build rapport easily.
* Basic level electrical qualification – good understanding of basic electrical theory and ability to demonstrate safe isolation procedure.
* Mechanically minded with good knowledge of pump systems as above.
* Basic IT skills with familiarity using a tablet and competence in working with digital controllers.
* Full UK Driving License with no points.
* Must be comfortable with a DBS Check to be carried out.
