Field Service Engineer
Hourly rate: £12.45ph
Based at: Wallasey Service Centre, CH44 7HX (full UK driving licence required)
Full Time - Hours: 8:00 Mon-Fri
We are currently looking for Field Service Engineers to join the team within our Wallasey Service Centre, covering contracts in the following areas: Wirral, Wigan, Chester, Ellesmere Port, Liverpool, South Sefton, Southport, and Formby. We welcome applications from people residing in these areas. As a healthcare equipment provider, Ross Care works in partnership with the NHS to supply necessary equipment and aids to support people in their day-to-day life.
Job Purpose:
To enable the Company to achieve the agreed contractual standard of service by completing initial training in the workshop reconditioning wheelchair equipment to gain essential product knowledge. Upon completion of initial training, you will work in the field delivering, collecting, repairing, and servicing wheelchairs, with the expectation that most jobs will be completed on a first-time fix basis.
Key Responsibilities:
* Delivering and collecting wheelchairs to and from service users' homes and NHS departments, ensuring adherence to the Company Infection Control Policy.
* Servicing and repairing wheelchairs in the field, aiming for a first-time fix whenever possible.
* Completing paperwork for each job with necessary information regarding parts used and actions taken.
* Using provided PPE as instructed.
* Once fully trained, undertaking out-of-hours responsibility when rostered.
* Observing regulations covering the driving and use of the Company vehicle on public highways.
* Maintaining a tidy vehicle and ensuring necessary parts are replenished daily.
* Conducting weekly vehicle safety checks and completing the van check sheet.
* Maintaining a professional customer service attitude and adhering to uniform standards.
* Prioritizing and organizing your workload, referring to the Line Manager as needed.
* Maintaining and safely keeping all tools and equipment provided by the Company.
* Agreeing to undertake all necessary training to maintain required skills for this role.
Qualifications:
* Full UK driving licence
* Successful enhanced DBS check
* General workshop knowledge
* Basic electrical knowledge (12v/24v D.C. systems)
* Able to safely move and handle loads and equipment
* Experience in face-to-face customer contact
* Previous delivery driver experience
* Understanding of the needs of people with disabilities
* Flexible approach to working conditions
* Ability to use own initiative within set boundaries
* Ability to use a mobile phone to relay photographs
* Good written and verbal communication skills
* Ability to relay clear instructions to clients
* Familiarity with hand-held scanners
Physical Demands of the Job:
* Moving and handling equipment and accessories following guidelines
* Standing at a bench to work
* Kneeling/crouching
* Working in confined spaces if necessary
* Using ramps and other moving equipment
Most Challenging/Difficult Parts of the Role:
* Flexible working and responsiveness to changing priorities
* Availability for short notice overtime due to emergency response requirements
* Responsibility for out-of-hours duties
