An exciting, temporary job opportunity has arisen for thirty five hours a week within the gynaecology nursing team at the Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust.
We are looking for a friendly and highly motivated health care assistant who has enthusiasm for making a positive contribution to women's health. You will work as part of the dedicated nursing team on the Women's Health Unit. This unit delivers our ambulatory gynaecology procedures such as hysteroscopy, colposcopy, cystoscopy and gynaecology clinics.
You will assist the registered nurses in providing clinically excellent, compassionate care, acting as the patient's advocate and chaperone. You will need excellent communication skills to engage with patients, family members and colleagues.
You will have the opportunity to develop skills and knowledge whilst promoting the Trust's values.
Gynaecology services are offered across our three hospital sites, Worcestershire Royal Hospital, Kidderminster Treatment Centre and The Alexandra Hospital at Redditch. We comprise of the Women's Health Unit, Emergency Gynaecology Assessment Unit, inpatient elective work and sub-specialty clinics. This role will be based at Redditch.
Main duties of the job
The healthcare assistant will work as part of the nursing team supporting professionally qualified staff in providing quality care for patients in roles, which are mainly related to direct patient care.
Direct delivery of high-quality patient care ensuring that the dignity and privacy needs of patients are met.
Documentation of care provided using digital systems.
Overseeing of the maintenance of a clean, welcoming and therapeutic environment.

Key Duties
To accompany patients where clinical support is indicated
To chaperone patients as required
To undertake basic observations such as blood pressure, pulse, respiration, temperature, height and weight measurements, record and report results to qualified staff
To ensure that patients receive care appropriate to their needs
To assist in the set up and clean down of clinics spaces, trolleys and disposal of clinical waste
To respond appropriately to clinical emergencies
To answer telephone calls and take messages informing appropriate persons of the call
To assist in transfer of patients using correct manual handling techniques and equipment as required
To report to qualified staff, without delay, any change in a patients clinical condition or any concern expressed by a patient about nursing care or medical treatment
Demonstrate knowledge of Health and Safety requirements at work in order to maintain a safe environment
