At Severn Trent, we are embarking on an exciting £415m project to replace 870 miles of old water pipes across the Midlands - and we want you to be part of it. This is the biggest investment in water infrastructure in the region in a decade and it is set to improve water quality, reduce leaks, and make a water supply more reliable for millions of people. The new pipes we are installing will last up to 100 years.
To bring this vision to life, we are creating new jobs across the region, with your base in Birmingham, Nottingham, or anywhere in between. We've got opportunities for you to help shape the future of water in the Midlands.
We are looking for a Water Construction Technician to work as part of a team to successfully deliver Mains Renewal construction activity for a specific site within one of the four regions (North, South, East, and West).
Key Responsibilities:
* Operate assets on the network on behalf of the construction team while carrying out large scale Mains Renewal work at specific locations.
* Assist and support the Network Construction Manager in the scoping and delivery of the Mains Renewal schemes within their area of accountability.

Key Accountability:
* Accountable for undertaking pre-site checks alongside the Network Construction Manager, identifying and health checking key assets in preparation for risk & contingency documentation.
* Liaise and communicate with Network Control at critical stages of each scheme (i.e. Valve Operations to connect to trunk mains).
* Support the Network Construction Operatives in the construction stages (fusing pipes, service laying, overlanding, etc.).
* Responsible for undertaking valving due diligence for critical stages of the scheme, including chlorination and sampling of mains and services in line with the relevant SOPS + SSOW (Safe Systems of Work).
* Carry out operational activities on-site, such as flushing and cleansing of water mains and hydrants, and oversee the installation of pressure control valves on the infrastructure network.
