The Role:
We are excited to partner with a top-tier law firm in Manchester to recruit a highly skilled and ambitious Senior Associate Construction Solicitor. This is an excellent opportunity to join a prestigious team with a strong reputation in the construction sector, offering a broad and varied caseload covering both contentious and non-contentious construction matters.
As a Senior Associate, you will work alongside leading experts, advising high-profile clients on a range of complex construction projects. This will involve both contentious and non-contentious matters, providing you with the opportunity to develop your expertise in all aspects of construction law.
Key Responsibilities:
* Contentious Construction Matters: You will represent clients in disputes related to construction contracts, including issues of breach of contract, delays, defects, and other construction-related claims.
* Non-Contentious Construction Matters: You will advise on contract negotiations, drafting and reviewing construction contracts (including JCT, NEC, and bespoke contracts), and providing strategic advice on procurement, project management, and risk management.
* Client Relationship Management: Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing clients while identifying and pursuing new business opportunities.
* Supervision and Mentoring: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior associates, paralegals, and trainees. You will play an active role in their development and help ensure high standards of legal work across the team.
* Collaboration: Work closely with colleagues across the firm’s other practice areas to provide seamless legal advice to clients involved in complex, multi-disciplinary construction projects.
* Business Development: Contribute to the growth of the practice by attending client meetings, networking events, and supporting marketing initiatives to raise the profile of the team.
About You:
To be successful in this role, you will have:
* A solid background in construction law, with at least 5 years of experience in both contentious and non-contentious construction matters.
* A strong understanding of key construction contracts (e.g., JCT, NEC) and relevant legislation.
* Experience working on high-value and complex construction projects for a wide range of clients including contractors, developers, and public sector bodies.
* A proven track record of handling and managing disputes, with experience in adjudication, litigation, arbitration, and alternative dispute resolution.
* The ability to build strong client relationships and contribute to business development initiatives.
* Excellent communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with clients, colleagues, and external stakeholders.
* A proactive and solution-oriented approach to problem-solving.
* Strong leadership skills, with experience mentoring and supervising junior team members.
