Alma Personnel have pleased to have partnered with their Wolverhampton based Government run organisation to recruit for an experienced Caretaker and Maintenance officer responsible for carrying out minor maintenance duties and repairs at various locations owned by the organisation.
Whilst carrying out maintenance checks you will also be operating the building management system based from a central location supporting other buildings including the provision of heating and lighting.
Your responsibilities will include handy work (replacing door handles, etc.), taking deliveries, and providing general everyday support to tenants and the building.
You will document internal and external building checks as required, including alarm testing, emergency lights, water temperature, etc.
You will be the key holder and will maintain a high level of tidiness of exterior areas, manage and supervise external contractors working on buildings, and respond to any out-of-hours emergency or alarm calls.
You will be responsible for opening and closing down buildings on a shift pattern rota basis which includes mornings, evenings, and weekends.
All meeting rooms will be prepared for use as and when required.
You must be able to work flexibly and respond to the demands of the role in an ever-changing environment.
Maintain a visible presence in suitable attire throughout any evening committee meetings.
The core hours of business are between 6.30am - 8pm, Mon to Fri, based on a 37-hour week 7-day rota system, and you will need to be flexible to work between these hours. You will also be required to work every other Saturday morning to open up and close the building, with the potential for occasional Sunday work in the future, but time would be given off in the week for any weekend working.
This position is initially on a 6-month temporary basis but is likely to go permanent for the right candidate.
Skills Required:
1. Maths and English Level 4 (old Grade C in GCSE).
2. A good understanding of operational building management.
3. Knowledge of current Health & Safety legislation including fire safety and legionella management.
4. A good understanding of property maintenance techniques including painting, decorating, plumbing, and minor repairs.
