Delivery Lead 3G’s – New Prisons Programme The Opportunity We are seeking a Delivery Lead to join our New Prisons Programme, delivering modern and efficient jails that will boost rehabilitation and cut reoffending. With responsibility for delivery of proposed new prisons in Lancashire, Leicestershire and Buckinghamshire our Delivery Lead will work closely with Project Leads and their multi-disciplinary team spread across the UK to conclude outline planning and transition into a successful delivery phase. Initially based in a flexible location during the planning and pre-construction phases, as schemes transition to construction the Delivery lead will co-locate with delivery teams and contractors on site 2-3 days per week, collaborating with the main contractor and their supply chain to provide hands on monitoring and problem solving for the New Prisons Programme. Responsibilities\: Responsible for the successful delivery of up to three New Prisons in the North and Central regions, within budget and to achieve first prisoner dates. Responsibilities include: Leadership Working collaboratively with the New Prisons Programme Director to successfully deliver the New Prisons Programme. Grow and develop teams for the new prison projects. Contributing to the promotion of our Delivery Partner model. Maintaining high standards of health safety and wellbeing Preconstruction Phase\: Work with project teams to develop and implement a coordinated programme wide plan to for activity required to transition from planning approval to contract award and site delivery Develop a good understanding of the FAC-1 alliancing contract and work with the programme director to promote collaboration and achieve alliance objectives. Develop key relationships and maintain regular contact with key stakeholder including main contractors and designers to drive timely delivery of the works. Challenge and develop the master construction programme and logistics strategy for each site with the main contractor Lead collation of NEC ECC contracts including draft works information and schedules to form project Scope. Provide regular client reporting and support the on-going development of project controls required to successfully deliver the programme. Incorporate lessons learnt and overall continuous improvement. Construction Phase: Primary point of escalation for up to three project teams, providing day-to-day hands on management to resolve site based issues Managing on-site work with the contractor to identify and solve problems, enable us to provide hands on and accurate monitoring of progress Attending client meetings, design meetings and any other meetings as required. Reporting, communication and escalation of issues to client programme leadership team Develop and maintain good working relationships with client team, contractor and other consultants Contract management – responsible for successful administration of NEC ECC contract Risk management Knowledge share – promote sharing of lessons learnt and other knowledge within the New Prisons Programme and across Mace’s wider portfolio of MoJ projects Implement a managed handover process, directing Mace's contribution to the government soft landings approach on each project. About you A project manager with proven experience throughout the project lifecycle and looking to progress to programme management, you will: H ave previous experience of working on large or complex schemes, with an evidenced ability to deliver multiple packages in both pre-construction and construction phases, Prioritize service excellence Be able to develop and maintain excellent working relationships with our client and key stakeholders, including contractors Have previous experience of line management and supporting team development Be a confident communicator, able to interpret technical and contractual information and relay it in an understandable way to our client. Have an excellent understanding of the NEC3 ECC contract and experience of managing production of deliverables for NEC ECC contract execution. Be a problem solver, able to identify issues that affect our client, suggest practical solutions and implement them. Demonstrate a good understanding of handover processes including government soft landings. Be passionate about responsible business practices and supportive of our aims to deliver buildings with exceptional sustainability performance. Be interested and able to talk confidently about industry best practice, including modern methods of construction and digital delivery. It will be a requirement of the role to undergo BPSS level security clearance.
