Job Title: Electrical Site Manager
Location: Manchester City Centre
Salary: £50,000 + Company Package
Job Overview:
Mech Electrics are seeking an experienced Electrical Site Manager to work for our client overseeing the electrical installation works on a prestigious, high-profile residential and mixed-use living space project in a sought-after area of Manchester City Centre. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing all electrical aspects of the project, ensuring that work is completed on time, to budget, and in accordance with all relevant safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Site Management & Supervision:
Lead and manage the electrical team and subcontractors, ensuring that electrical works are carried out safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.
Monitor progress on-site and report to senior management, ensuring work is completed within the agreed programme and to the required specifications.
Oversee the day-to-day operations of electrical installations, including distribution systems, lighting, power, fire alarms, and security systems.
Health, Safety, & Compliance:
Ensure all electrical work complies with health and safety regulations, the latest electrical standards, and building codes.
Conduct regular safety audits, toolbox talks, and risk assessments to proactively address potential safety issues.
Take immediate action to address any non-compliance or safety hazards.
Quality Control:
Review and approve all electrical work, ensuring it meets both regulatory standards and the quality expectations of the project.
Carry out inspections and snagging of electrical installations to ensure they meet the project specifications and quality criteria.
Coordinate with other site managers and the project team to resolve any technical or quality issues that arise.
Coordination with Stakeholders:
Liaise with project managers, architects, engineers, and other site managers to ensure smooth integration of electrical systems into the overall building design.
Attend and contribute to site meetings, providing updates on electrical progress and identifying potential challenges or delays.
Manage the interface between electrical services and other trades, ensuring minimal disruption and coordination of activities.
Subcontractor Management:
Manage and oversee electrical subcontractors, ensuring that work is carried out in accordance with the programme, quality standards, and budget.
Ensure subcontractors have the necessary resources, training, and materials to complete their work on time and to the required standards.
Budget & Cost Control:
Assist in the preparation of electrical cost estimates and manage the electrical works within budget.
Monitor material and labour costs, identifying any potential cost overruns or opportunities for cost savings without compromising quality.
Ensure that all electrical materials and equipment are procured on time and are compliant with project specifications.
Documentation & Reporting:
Maintain up-to-date records of all electrical works
Provide regular reports on progress, risks, and issues to the senior management team.
Ensure all necessary compliance documentation is submitted in a timely manner
Key Skills & Qualifications:
Ideally a minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical site management, ideally within large-scale residential and mixed-use projects.
Proven experience managing electrical teams and subcontractors, ensuring high standards of safety and quality are maintained.
Strong understanding of electrical installation, testing, commissioning, and fault-finding processes.
ECS Gold Card (or equivalent) as a qualified supervisor.
NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation or equivalent.
18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations (BS 7671).
SSSTS or SMSTS certification (Site Supervisors or Site Managers Safety Training Scheme).
Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and guide electrical teams to meet deadlines and standards.
Excellent knowledge of electrical systems, regulations, and safety standards.
Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to resolve technical issues and challenges on-site.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with clients, subcontractors, and team members.
Strong organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and manage multiple activities simultaneously.
Previous experience working on high-profile residential or mixed-use projects in urban city centre locations desirable.
A proactive and flexible approach to work, with the ability to adapt to changing priorities and project requirements.
