Purpose of the Role:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Additional Needs Tutor to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong track record of working with students with additional needs in Higher Education and will be able to provide them with the support they need to succeed in their studies.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
* Adapt curriculum materials to ensure accessibility and address individual learning goals, strengths, and challenges
* Provide individual and small group instruction to students, employing various teaching strategies, adaptive technologies, and accommodations to optimise learning outcomes.
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, in particular the Student Wellbeing Team to develop and implement Individual Learning Plans (ILPs)
* Collaborate with the academic team in ensuring that any additional accommodations required in the classroom setting are implemented.
* Collaborate with external service providers where intensive 1:1 support is required
* Provide support to students with the transition to higher education
* Keep up-to-date with the latest developments in the field of additional needs
* Carry out administrative duties, such as maintaining records and preparing reports
About You:
We are looking for someone who has:
* A degree in education, special education, or a related field
* Experience (3+ years) working with students with additional needs / neurological differences in a higher education setting
* A strong understanding of the latest teaching and learning strategies
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, approachable, empathetic and patient.
* The ability to work independently and as part of a team
