Job summary An outstanding individual is sought to fulfil the role of Training Programme Director for Urology for KSS. This is a 1x 1PA Training Programme Director vacancy. The role of Training Programme Director is to work with and support the Postgraduate Dean and Head of School of Surgery in leading the delivery of a wide range of functions within their specialty, aligned to the NHS England mandate. The Programme Director will ensure that both national standards, determined by the Royal Colleges and also guidelines and standards established within Kent, Surrey and Sussex are met. The successful applicant will work closely with the Head of School, two other General Surgery TPD's, SE team including; PGMDE Business Manager, Postgraduate Dean, and other key departments including Quality. They will work with the Postgraduate Dean to produce doctors who will strive for the highest standards of patient-centred care and commit themselves to a lifetime of professional development. Main duties of the job The Programme Director will ensure that both national standards, determined by the faculty, and guidelines and standards established within KSS are met. Responsibilities will include: To oversee the General Surgery (East) Regional Training Programme Specialty-specific matters and trainee/trainer concerns Recruitment to training posts and programmes Postgraduate programme management, including assessments, progression, rotations, support and remediation, OOP management, trainee management careers support, less than full-time training, inter-deanery transfer, academic training and other related work-streams. The ideal candidate will be an experienced NHS Consultant with a thorough understanding of Urology training across the region and who will also have strong leadership and communication skills and be able to work effectively as a member of a multi-professional team.
