The Role
A Youth Justice Support Worker helps to ensure core services are delivered within the Youth Justice Service which includes delivering tailored interventions to individual, and groups of children, as well as completing assessments and intervention plans focussed on reducing re-offending. The role involves creatively using a variety of methods to engage young people & their families within their home, at the office, in community settings and in custody.
Youth Justice Support Workers manage a caseload of young people who are assessed as medium or low risk of re-offending, causing serious harm to others, or for their own safety and wellbeing. Workers are also responsible for developing and delivering interventions to young people open to the service including those subject to Intensive Supervision & Surveillance.
About You
The successful candidate will embrace a trauma informed and child first approach to Youth Justice. You will have some knowledge of the issues which impact children & families and which can lead to engaging in offending behaviour although training will be provided.
You will have the ability to communicate effectively with young people both individually and in a group setting and be able to motivate them to engage in programmes of work to address offending behaviour. You will work restoratively and deliver high quality statutory services with creativity and innovation as part of a multi-agency team focussed on reducing re-offending.
