We have an exciting opportunity for a Bank Pharmacy Assistant to join our Pharmacy team at HMP Lewes, a category B Prison located in Lewes.
This site has both a pharmacy and dispenser with a really strong, integrated team of 6, and due to growth looking for 6 more Technicians/Assistants to make them a team of 12. This site offers fantastic opportunity for learning and development and career progression including ACPT training. Great opportunity for overtime which is paid at the bank rate. They are always happy to invite anyone in for a look around the department and a cup of tea!

You will receive a bank hourly rate of £16.62 per hour.

Main duties of the job
As a Bank Pharmacy Assistant, your responsibilities will vary. You will:
* Become an integral member of the pharmacy team, as well as a valued member of the multidisciplinary clinical healthcare team.
* Provide high quality support to the supply, preparation and assembly of medicines under the direction of the Responsible Pharmacist.
* Contribute to services such as medicines reconciliation, managing stock medicines, safe transportation of medicines, and provide support to a safe and secure medicines administration service whilst following policies, protocols, and standard operating procedures.
* Complete general dispensary duties and stock management.
* Provide a timely and efficient service to the prison wings.
* Receive prescriptions and stock returns from wing-based clinical areas.
* Collect orders from suppliers from the Main Gate and arrange collection of returns.
* Participate in dispensing of prescriptions.

Qualifications required
* NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Service Skills/equivalent or working towards *
* Medicines handling experience desirable not essential
* Level 2 English and Maths or equivalent
* A non-judgmental and compassionate approach
* Ability to work unsupervised whilst following policy and procedures
Although not essential, ideal applicants would have experience in a hospital, community, or prison environment.
