Unity Youth are now recruiting for passionate and dedicated Residential Care Workers to join our new home in Chadwell St. Mary, Essex.
As a Residential Care Worker, you will be required to work as a member of a team in providing direct day-to-day care and support to children and young people who display emotional and/or behavioural difficulties participating in daily living.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
* Providing the young people with emotional and social support, helping them to develop meaningful relationships with other children and adults, as well as encouraging them to become involved with local communities.
* Acting as a residential care worker providing care and support to children and young people in the home.
* Working with team members to achieve a warm, caring, safe and stimulating environment for the children and young people in our care.
* Assisting each young person with the development of their education.
* Working on behalf of children and young people to educate and provide positive support with any aspect of their health and well-being, including all the nine standards of the Children’s Care Act care requirements and consulting with professionals where appropriate.
* Promoting and encouraging the children and young people to access leisure activities and education.
* Having an active role in assisting each child and young person towards achieving a realistic standard of independence.
* Being alert to signs of distress or abuse and ensuring that the children and young people are monitored and safeguarded at all times.
* Ensuring that the religious, racial, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds of children and their families are promoted, while being sensitive to gender issues.
* Controlling and managing young people who need boundaries set to their behaviour.
* Utilizing clear lines of communication to promote the welfare of the young person.
* Liaising with both internal and external agencies, parents, and carers so that appropriate resources may be identified for the benefit of the young people.
Requirements: Essential Skills, Knowledge and Experience
* Ability to engage with young people in a positive and proactive approach.
* Ability to assess risks.
* Ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
* Ability to work individually and as part of a team.
* Experience of working with children and young people in a residential setting.
* A desire to learn; we provide full training for you to achieve a Childcare Diploma.
* Willingness to work additional hours to cover sickness and holidays.
* Willingness to work Bank Holidays & Christmas Holidays.
