This is an exciting time to join the bariatric team as we are currently expanding our services to include this new role of clinical nurse specialist in weight management. The post holder will work autonomously and with the wider multi-disciplinary bariatric team to help deliver a specialist bariatric and weight management service for our patients. The successful candidate will be expected to use their expert clinical knowledge, alongside their leadership skills to provide high quality care to each and every one of our patients and to seek opportunities to engage with colleagues to embed and develop our bariatric and weight management service. This is a part time role at 24.5 hours a week. Main duties of the job The successful candidate will be the first point of contact during hours for patients in the bariatric surgery pathway. They will work as an integral member of the weight management and bariatric multidisciplinary team, contributing towards the provision of high quality bariatric care. The care we provide to our patients using the service will be both in an in-patient and an out-patient setting. They will ensure that our patients receive smooth management of their care whilst liaising with and referring to the appropriate members of the multidisciplinary team. They will act as a source of expertise in weight management within the bariatric service and provide an educational and advisory service to our patients and our staff whilst working with the bariatric multidisciplinary team. They will work in partnership with the bariatric multidisciplinary team, pre-operative staff and ward staff to ensure that our patients are provided with high quality care at every stage of their journey.
