Job Description
A world-class team developing advanced CMOS and BiCMOS data and video communications seeks an experienced Product Engineer to join their New Product Introduction team in Bristol.
Responsibilities:
* Ensure product conformance to specifications through analysis of data from automated test equipment (ATE), bench measurements, and design of experiments (DOE). This position is a central engineering function in the development of new products, involved from concept to end-of-life.
* Interact regularly with Marketing and Design groups to influence manufacturability, test, reliability, ease of volume ramp, and realization of NPI targets like break-even time, yield, cost, and quality.
* Participate in decisions on technology development or sourcing for new products, focusing on cost and manufacturability.
* Review design implementation for manufacturability and testability.
* Coordinate test and characterization plans, working with Test Development and Validation groups to ensure overall product compliance and manufacturability.
* Coordinate product qualification planning, documentation, and reporting.
* Participate in Design Reviews and Test Reviews to ensure testability/manufacturability features were considered and implemented, achieving test quality and coverage.
* Perform capability analysis, margin analysis, correlation studies, and yield modeling on new products.
* Review and optimize test coverage, limits, and guard banding.
* Coordinate manufacturing documentation for production transfer and product maintenance.
* Work with Production Process/Packaging Engineering to resolve problems during wafer fabrication, packaging, die sort, and final package test processes.
* Drive failure analysis, root cause, and corrective actions for field returns.
* Develop product-specific failure analysis flow if necessary.
Qualifications:
* Bachelor of Engineering degree with 3-8 years of experience in product engineering, test engineering, and/or hardware design. Note: minimum requirements are a Bachelor of Engineering with 3 years of experience.
* Experience in the semi-conductor industry.
* Strong knowledge of high-speed serial digital interconnect components and test methodologies.
* Experience with high-speed digital ATE test platforms or equivalent rack solutions.
* Experience with quality systems, including corrective actions, 8D reports, and failure analysis reports.
* Experience with JEDEC and/or Mil quality requirements.
* Experience with yield management tools.
* Project management experience is an asset.
A demonstrated track record of:
* Introducing effective methods for product yield and quality improvement, and production cost reduction.
* Good decision-making and problem-solving abilities based on analytical/statistical approaches.
* Creation and maintenance of product manufacturing documentation.
* Summarizing technical plans and results through reports and presentations.
* Achieving results in a multi-project, cross-functional team environment.
* Exercising strong leadership and communication skills in influencing peers and management.
* Working with external sourcing and subcontractors.
The estimated salary for this role is £60,000 - £80,000 per annum, depending on experience.
