An opportunity for an experienced control engineer is available with my client who is a market leader in process plant machinery, systems, and equipment. Their ideal candidate will have PLC programming experience and come from a controls biased maintenance or field service background.
Control System Engineer role:
1. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for the following control system engineering duties:
2. Amongst other projects, responsible for continued development of an automatic control system to ensure that customers' products are dried to the required moisture content.
3. Develop and improve user interface for ease of use.
4. Rollout of updates to existing customers.
5. Investigate cloud data collection and online web portals for customer access.
6. Interpret PLC data into meaningful analysis and summaries.
7. Assist colleagues with developing improved control systems for machines and complete process systems.
8. Work with the mechanical design team and implement control systems to maximize the ability to automate wherever practical.
9. Use IEC PLC programming languages in ladder and structured text.
10. Utilize Codesys, Rockwell Studio 5000, Siemens TIA Portal.
11. HMI programming; EasyBuilder Pro.
12. Machinery related networking and network security.
13. Fieldbuses including Ethernet/IP, Profibus, Profinet, and CanOpen.
14. Variable Speed Drive PLC software programming and parameter use; IMO, ABB.
15. Soft starters, Star Delta Reversing, Direct Online motor starters.
16. On-site visits for troubleshooting electrical and electro-mechanical problems.
17. Commissioning of machines and systems.
18. Remote office-based support and advice.
19. Work to increase secure connectivity to alert operators to maintenance needs and allow remote troubleshooting.
20. Collect and use data from the process to inform operators and to inform the design and development.
21. Collect accurate data on our machines.
22. Involvement in our laboratory for developing machines for testing characteristics of different organic materials.
23. Maintain and develop relationships with Panel Builders, System Integrators, and equipment suppliers.
24. Review control panel specifications and define standard designs.
25. Identify areas for development and keep abreast of supplier side updates.
26. Training, documentation, and support.
Control System Engineer requirement:
1. The right to work in the UK without the need for sponsors.
2. Electrical / electronic qualified engineer.
3. Experience in PLC control/programming.
4. Familiar with relay logic control panels.
5. Some experience in 3 phase power electricals.
6. Interest in/connection with process industry/mechanical engineering.
7. Interested, committed, and thorough with an open-minded, positive attitude and analytical/problem-solving mind.
8. Good team player with strong interpersonal skills.
9. Willingness to spend some time working at site in UK and Overseas (<7% of the year).
Control System Engineer package:
1. Salary up to £55k depending on experience.
2. 23 days holiday + bank holidays.
