The Transpennine Route Upgrade is a major investment to be made in the railway between York and Manchester via Leeds and Huddersfield. TRU is a multi-billion-pound, transformative, long-term railway infrastructure programme that will improve connectivity in the North. It will support economic growth in the North and deliver real benefits for passengers and communities along this pivotal rail artery.
We have an exciting opportunity to join our dynamic team in Huddersfield as a Civils Delivery Director on the construction phase of this prestigious scheme. The purpose of this role is to provide Leadership, covering all major civils works and lineside civils works delivered by the civils participant (BAM) and its suppliers.
Your mission
* Work with and support the Civils IDT Management Team along with the W3A SLT.
* Ensure the quality of the Works meets the VFM Statement, and where Key Result Areas are set, Targets are met or exceeded and that decisions are made in recognition of best for Programme outcomes for their sub project within W34.
* Accountable & responsible for the safe delivery of the major civils scope to time and schedule.
* Responsible for managing risks and opportunities relating to the civils scope.
* Responsible for the civils scope, procurement strategy, budget, risks, and schedule within the geographical footprint on TRU. A key aspect of this role is management of key stakeholders in a live station environment along with multiple specialist suppliers.
* Reports to the Civils IDT Lead, who holds overall delivery accountability.
* Actively work to ensure the major civils scope is integrated with all other disciplines and functions to ensure successful delivery for all alliance partners creating a win-win outcome for all.
* Be an ambassador for the Alliance Charter and a positive role model promoting the alliance vision and behaviours.
* Develop team members, including self, to reach personal goals and ambitions as defined by PDR's.
* Deliver the works in line with the baseline schedule and to budget, or below, striving to deliver on opportunities. This includes the active participation and management of threats.
* Deliver in line with the programmes sustainability targets.
Who are we looking for?
Key Experience:
* Minimum of 10 years experience in a senior leadership role, managing multiple large scale projects, or programmes of work.
* Management of large civil engineering projects in excess of £100m.
* Minimum of 5 years experience in a senior position on a large multi disciplinary rail project.
* Experience of producing accurate reports, presenting trend data and presentation to senior leaders within the programme and parent company.
Essential:
* Outstanding Leadership skills including: Inspiring People & Execution through others; Relationships (Collaborating & Influencing); Forward Thinking (& Innovation); Business Leadership (Commercial & Risk Management).
* Relevant experience in the successful management of major projects of high value and complexity in the construction and/or rail industries.
* Performance driven with a strong commercial focus within the context of achieving successful outcomes in terms of Safety, Quality, Schedule and sustainability.
* Experience and knowledge in use of project controls to measure and manage project performance in relation to schedule & target cost.
* Excellent communication skills with demonstrable delivery of leadership and behavioural change within a large organisation.
