RM Recruit are partnering with a Birmingham based Social Housing Provider to recruit a Head of Rent Accounting for their team. Reporting to the Director of Rents & Service Charges, this is a highly collaborative and visible role that holds a range of cross-department responsibilities to ensure the board, regulator and customers are provided with reliable, accessible and wide ranging rents information.
The remit of this role will include, but not be limited to:
* Development and delivery of the Rent accounting function for all regions
* Management of the Rents finance team
* Ownership of the associations Rent Policy and end to end Rents process
* Overall responsibility for the setting of accurate rents, production of rent budgets, the reporting of budget vs. actual variances, short term forecasting and the production of rent reconciliations.
* Continual review of the organisations rents bad debt provision calculations and bad debt actions
* Analysis and reporting of void loss scenarios
* Ensuring property information is accurately recorded in order to report rent performance and to support the production of accurate rents.
* Continual review and improvement of rent accounting processes and controls to ensure they are robust, effective and ensure best practice
* Hold responsibility for the annual SDR return and any other relevant regulatory or statutory returns
* Close liaison and working with the Service Charge Team on all related matters
* Working with the lettings teams on rent charging on re-lets
* Close liaison and working with the Investment team and the Development team on new rent setting
* Working with the Financial Planning and Analysis team on short and long term rent forecasting
* Acting as the key point of contact for all Rent matters in regulated environment ensuring the whole organisation is kept fully informed of any changes in the rent legislation.
* Provision of KPI and financial information to the Board, Executive, Leadership teams and the wider organisation
Our client is seeking an experienced and qualified accounting professional who has a proven passion for the Social Housing arena and a deep understanding of Rents and legislation within the sector. This role will work on a remote basis but regular presence at the organisations head office will be required as to be hand-on with a range of process improvement projects.
