Hillingdon Outreach Worker
Hours: 37.5 per week
Location: Hillingdon/Heathrow area
Pay: £15.86 plus holiday pay = £17.77 per hour or £20.00 umbrella
Rota: 37.5 hours Monday - Friday
Hours: Mixture of shifts - 3x 09:00-17:00 shifts and 2x 05:00-13:00 plus one street count shift a month (21:00-02:00)
Being a car driver is desirable but not a requirement.
We are recruiting an outreach worker to join our client's Hillingdon Outreach Team. Working within the Outreach Team will give you the opportunity to make a huge impact on the lives of rough sleepers. This is a challenging but rewarding role that requires you to assess rough sleepers, advising them around their available options and linking them with external services in accordance with their needs. The role will see you most of the time in the Heathrow area.
As an Outreach Worker you will:
1. Work in pairs to cover the outreach shift responsibilities and lone work with risk assessed service users to attend appointments in the community.
2. Support rough sleepers to access appropriate social care services and accommodation options.
3. Be a first response to referrals, carrying out needs and risk assessments with new rough sleepers.
4. Update assessments on rough sleepers already known to the team.
5. Regularly update the CHAIN database.
6. Find the best course of action for each client's scenario.
7. Work alongside other agencies including local authorities, health services, housing providers, the police, and drug & alcohol services.
To be successful you will need to:
1. Have excellent interpersonal skills.
2. Be flexible and responsive to meet the needs of rough sleepers.
3. Have the confidence and ability to manage a caseload of complex clients.
4. Have the necessary IT skills to collect, collate and interpret data.
5. Be confident in representing our client at external meetings and with outside agencies.

To be Successful as an Outreach Worker, you will have:
1. Excellent communication skills, and the ability to build strong effective working relationships.
2. The ability to empower individuals to make positive changes and a willingness to develop on these skills.
3. The ability to work flexibly on a shift rota basis with people on the streets and in different locations within the borough.
Our Hillingdon based client is willing to look at candidates who do not have direct outreach experience, but you must have experience in dealing with homeless people in a social care setting.
