This post is patient-facing and involves working alongside our established clinical pharmacy team to deliver a specialised service to our acute medicine admissions areas (B3, AMRA and Higher level care unit). You will have a key role in service improvements, supporting with medicines reconciliation, counselling and leading the technical team to ensure the effective running of the ward pharmacy satellite dispensary.
You will be fully supported by a team of experienced pharmacists, medicines management technicians and assistants.

In this role you will have leadership, management and clinical responsibilities and will be the chief medicines management technician (MMT) leading service improvements to the acute medicine specialty.
You will deliver patient-facing clinical pharmacy care to the acute medicine admissions areas and will work closely with the acute medicine pharmacy team to ensure the delivery of a safe, efficient, high quality and cost effective technical ward service.
You will be expected to line manage the MMTs and MMA's within the acute medicine team.

To be the lead technician for service improvement and strategic development of the clinical and operational technical pharmacy services to the Acute Medicine areas.
To be responsible for ensuring the delivery of a safe, efficient, high quality, innovative and cost-effective technical ward service by ensuring services are delivered to the minimum of accepted local and national standards, meeting current and future legal requirements and professional guidelines and ethical codes of practice.
To ensure the effective running of the pharmacy satellite dispensary.
To be responsible for the planning and delivery of a safe and effective technical ward service, in conjunction with the pharmacy clinical team. To ensure appropriate levels and skill mix of technical staff are available to maintain agreed standards of service delivery.
To lead the development and delivery of the ward technician training programme, ensuring quality monitoring standards are developed, agreed and implemented.
To be responsible for ensuring quality monitoring systems are developed, implemented and agreed, and that targets and standards are set.
To line manage the Medicines Management Technicians and Medicines Management Assistants within the Acute Medicine team.
