Role summary:
We're looking for an organised and self-motivated Management Accountant to join the Express Divisional team. The role will work closely with operations personnel and central accountants to ensure accurately reported financial information.
The ideal candidate will be a proactive team player, able to prioritise workloads, with the ability to communicate effectively.
Key responsibilities:
Maintenance of the Weekly P&L and supporting files
Completion of daily reporting such as revenue, cost and volumes
Actively participate in the preparation of the Depot's budgets
Prepare the depots' management accounts so that the operational management team are able to properly assess the financial performance of that location, region or nationally
Analysing and understanding variance to budget and prior periods; highlighting any potential areas of concerns to the appropriate people
Must be willing and able to visit the depots around the country and assist in training non-financial staff to better use and complete the existing reports
Preparation of monthly accruals and prepayment schedules
Monthly balance sheet reconciliations
Actively participate in various ad-hoc projects
Measures:
Adherence to Weekly timetable in production of the weekly P&L's
Preparation of depot budgets and forecasts to agreed timetables
No evidence of significant variances from budget not reported to Financial Controller on a timely basis
Accuracy and consistency in delivering monthly management accounts
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
Strong excel skills including working with large amounts of data.
Ideally, minimum 1-2 years' experience in finance function; preferably studying for professional exams
The candidate would ideally have experience of supporting non-finance individuals
Used to working to and achieving tight deadlines while maintaining attention to detail.
Some experience of management accounts
Financial systems experience desirable
Driving licence
