Job Summary
My client, a leading M&E Building Services provider, are seeking a detail-oriented Mechanical Estimator to join their team. The Mechanical Estimator will play a crucial role in analysing project specifications and requirements to prepare accurate cost estimates. This position requires the Mechanical Estimator to have a strong understanding of cost control and the ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
Duties
* Review project plans, specifications, and related documents to determine the scope of work.
* Prepare detailed cost estimates for materials, labour, and overheads.
* Collaborate with project managers and engineers to understand project requirements and constraints.
* Conduct market research to gather current pricing information for materials and services.
* Identify potential risks and opportunities within projects that may affect costs.
* Maintain accurate records of estimates, including changes and revisions.
* Provide support during the bidding process by preparing bid documents and presenting estimates to clients.
* Assist in the development of cost control measures to ensure project budgets are adhered to.
Skills
* Strong analytical skills with attention to detail for accurate estimation.
* Proficient in cost control methodologies and practices.
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective stakeholder engagement.
* Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while also being self-motivated.
* Proficiency in estimation software and Microsoft Office Suite.
* Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
* A background in construction or engineering is advantageous but not essential.
