Field Service/Calibration Engineer (104jc) – Egham - £45 to 55k + Benefits DOE
My client, established in the 50’s and globally recognized as a leader in Hydraulic Testing and Motion Simulations systems, is seeking to recruit a further engineer to join their team due to a significant increase in demand.
You will report to the Director of Support Services, and your role, once fully trained, will be to service, calibrate, and maintain their systems at client sites across the UK and Europe. After about 6 to 12 months, depending on your skill level, travel will extend to the rest of the world, as they have further bases established in the USA and China.
The key requirement for this role is a strong background in hydraulics and mechanical systems. A background in electrical and electronics is also helpful. Experience in transducer calibration would be beneficial, although comprehensive training will be given. The engineer will also provide maintenance/service support to customers as needed.
The scale of each client’s project will vary from a single actuator to an entire multi-actuator system, and coping with the difference in operational complexity is a key element. This is an exciting and diverse role that would interest anyone with this level of engineering background.
You will be trained on their in-house developed operational software but should have some experience with control systems. Familiarity with preparations for on-site work, such as site-specific Risk Assessments and safe systems of work documentation (Method Statements), is required.
The role requires good technical experience in the disciplines of mechanical, hydraulic (essential, ideally NVQ level 4 or HND/HNC level), electrical & electronic systems (highly desirable). Ideally, these skills would have been gained within a servo-control atmosphere. This is very much a “hands-on” role where you will be required to work both autonomously and as part of an engineering team.
You will be expected to have about 50% travel over the course of a year. Some weeks you can be away Mon – Fri, and others maybe one or two days a week, but accommodation, travel, and subsistence will be covered by the company.
The ideal candidate would probably come from a mechanical engineering background, with a heavy emphasis on hydraulics, as some of their systems work on 3000 PSI.
In return, they are offering an excellent salary package ranging from £45-55k, depending on your skills base and how long they have to spend training you on their equipment and systems, as well as a company vehicle, 25 days holiday + Bank Holidays, Salary Sacrifice Company pension scheme, and Death in Service Benefit which is 4 x salary.
