Based in Dundee, ESS’s client was founded with a mission to make a positive impact on the renewable energy sector. The company is dedicated to reducing carbon emissions and is playing a crucial role in introducing battery storage systems to the UK market. They offer a range of customisable battery storage solutions that help their customers optimise their energy use, reduce their carbon footprint, generate new revenue streams, and operate more efficiently.
To further expand their operations, the company has recently opened a new facility in Dundee. As part of their growth strategy, they are now looking to hire a highly skilled Electrical Design Project Engineer.
The Project Engineer will be responsible for the plan, build, coordinate all aspects associated with the manufacture, rental, servicing, and maintenance of the product range. Interfacing with the Technical Director, Principle Engineer, Service Manager, Operations Supervisor, Team Leads, Workshop personnel, 3rd parties and certification bodies as necessary to ensure successful manufacture and delivery of products. It is a varied ‘hands-on’ and project design position.
Role Responsibilities
Liaise with client’s project personnel, sub-contractors, suppliers, and certification bodies to ensure client’s requirements are met.
Liaise with internal engineering personnel including technicians, software engineers, production staff as required to meet output expectations.
Assist with design and apply modifications to products, in accordance with client requirements and Statutory Regulations.
Identify any 3rd party services, equipment or materials required for product build, module rental, sale-from-fleet or small sales.
Liaise with sales personnel to assist produce quotes and tenders.
Gather technical information for incorporation into product manufacture, module rental, sale-from-fleet or small sales.
Production and update of drawings and documentation associated with product manufacture and project design, system design and product modification.
Be ‘hands on’ to assist product build as necessary to achieve client delivery requirements.
Maintain registers and filing systems in line with company procedures.
Distribution of drawings and documentation to all parties both internally and externally.
Produce material requisitions for passing to Procurement Team.
Liaise with operations personnel throughout the duration of product manufacture, module rentals, sale-from-fleet or small sales in order to provide technical and hands on support as necessary.
Report internally and externally, as necessary, on work status
Update and maintain systems and records for all product manufacture, rental assets including periodic maintenance.
Updating and as-building of drawings/documents as necessary.
Attend client, external and internal meetings.
Provide demonstrations of module operation to clients and 3rd parties.
Provide fault-finding assistance to workshop and clients.
Assist in ensuring Operations procedures and forms reflect the current best practice.
Produce work packs in relation to product manufacture, deployment of product, (both installation and decommissioning).
Assist in all aspects of our in-house Competency Assessment System.
Experience and Qualifications
Degree/HND in Electrical Engineering.
Knowledge of ATEX Standard design and manufacturing competency.
Ability to modify and produce drawings utilising AutoCAD.
Knowledge of the Statutory Requirements governing hazardous area equipment.
Ability to utilise Microsoft suite of Office applications, i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio.
Ability to fault find Electrical & Pneumatic circuits to component level.
Understanding of high voltage installation and grid connection work preferable, but not essential.
Understanding of electronic control systems architecture and design preferable but not essential
Effective interpersonal skills.
Effective team player, as well as demonstrates flexibility, imitative and responsibility.
Calm under pressure and effective in meeting deadlines.
Good communicate skills both written and spoken in local language and English.
Ability to organise and chair both internal and client-facing meetings.
