Job Opportunity: Export Control Officer at UKAEA
About Us:
UKAEA (United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority) is at the forefront of pioneering research and development in fusion energy. As we continue to advance our exciting programmes, we are seeking a knowledgeable Export Control Officer to join our Transport Team.
Position Overview:
As an Export Control Officer, you will play a critical role in ensuring compliance with export control regulations and government policies. Reporting to the Transport Responsible Officer, you will serve as the subject matter expert, supporting our exciting projects at UKAEA.
Key Responsibilities:
Navigate the UK Strategic Export Control Lists to determine the control status of products, software, or technology for export.
Develop policies and arrangements to ensure compliance with statutory legislation and UKAEA requirements.
Provide expert advice to projects and managers on transport and import/export matters.
Interface with relevant regulators or external authorities regarding export control.
Prepare and submit export license applications, ensuring compliance with license conditions.
Assure the adequacy of transport arrangements through audits, inspections, investigations, and self-assessment reviews.
Deliver training on export control and dangerous goods transportation, including the creation of Computer-Based Training (CBT) packages.
Maintain sections related to transport of dangerous goods and export control on Nucleus, our internal platform.
Qualifications and Experience:
Degree or equivalent business experience.
Detailed experience in export control laws and regulations.
Proficiency in conducting effective investigations and audits.
Ability to provide timely subject matter expertise on export control enquiries.
Thorough knowledge of government policies and concerns related to import-export and export control.
High degree of computer literacy.
Additional Responsibilities:
Support the Transport Team on dangerous goods transportation and radioactive shipments.
